On February 28, 2025, approximately 8,654,860 WEMIX coins were abnormally withdrawn due to a malicious external attack on the Play Bridge Vault.Upon detecting the incident, our team immediately established an emergency task force(TF) to respond swiftly and resolve the situation. Below is an update on our ongoing investigation.Incident RecognitionOn February 28, unusual transactions were detected during internal monitoring.The team tracked the addresses related to these transactions and confirmed the abnormal withdrawals from Play Bridge.A total of 8,654,860 WEMIX coins were transferred to two attacker wallets in 13 transactions on February 28.Cause and Exploit AnalysisWe are investigating the cause and circumstances of the attack through our own analysis and in collaboration with an external security firm, Theori. Based on our initial findings, a more detailed analysis and tracing are underway. However, to prevent further exploitation, we ask for your understanding that we cannot disclose detailed information until all investigations and security measures are completed.[Key Response Measures]1. Immediate Actions to Prevent Further DamageSuspended the affected Play Bridge service and immediately blocked the attack route.Shut down key compromised servers.2. Transaction Tracking and Exchange ResponsesImmediately notified 26 global exchanges where WEMIX coins are listed and requested the freezing of the initial two attacker wallets.Implemented 24/7 monitoring and a real-time transaction detection system to track asset movements from these two wallets and shared the data with exchanges.Blocked Orbit Bridge transfers from WEMIX Chain to other chains.Between February 28 and March 3, a total of 8,630,223 WEMIX coins were transferred through 77 addresses and deposited into seven global exchanges. Cooperation with Law Enforcement and Attacker TrackingFiled an official report with law enforcement agencies on February 28 and submitted an official request for cooperation, including the following measures:Requested information on the attacker's exchange accounts, including asset holdings, sales, and withdrawals.Requested log data from WEMIX-related data platforms for further investigation.Analyzed various internal logs and infiltration methods to track the attacker’s identity.4. Detailed Analysis and Response in Collaboration with TheoriHeld an emergency meeting on March 1 to establish a collaborative framework and discuss key details.Shared key information and data, and are conducting an in-depth analysis to identify the cause of the attack.5. Initial Security Reinforcement MeasuresImplemented multi-factor authentication (MFA) on all internal servers.Enabled 24/7 real-time alerts to multiple server administrators upon access to key servers.Strengthened security measures for key managers responsible for blockchain operations.[Efforts to Enhance Security]WEMIX has continuously made extensive efforts to provide the highest level of security in blockchain services and management. .1.
